LYCHAKIV CEMETERY

Lychakiv cemetery is one of the most valuable collections of highly artistic necropolis sculptures in Europe. The highest hill is occupied by the cemetery of the participants in the January Uprising (1794) under the leadership of T. Kostyushko. You will also see the Polish War Memorial and the nearby Ukrainian War Memorial, where archers and foremen of the UGA are buried. The cemetery’s gates separate being from non-existence, and it’s not without reason that Clio, the muse of history, is the daughter of Mnemosyne, the goddess of memory.
